Markus Mai Website Design

The Markus Mai Website Design was created by CTP – Conversation Taking Place, an independent studio in Berlin. It serves as a dedicated platform to showcase the artist’s conceptual and mixed-media work. The site functions both as a portfolio and an evolving archive.

Art Direction and Visual Curation

We developed a visual system that reflects Markus Mai’s artistic language. His work combines urban energy and material experimentation, so the design had to remain open but structured. Layouts alternate between dense spreads and quiet white space, because this mirrors the rhythm of his practice.

The Markus Mai Website Design also focuses on navigation. Visitors can access key projects like “The Lowly” quickly, while still having space to explore lesser-known series.

Modular Display for Diverse Works

Mai’s portfolio includes sculpture, photography, and calligraphic drawings. This diversity meant the structure had to be modular, so we created flexible templates.

Photography appears in responsive grids, while object-based works are displayed with full-bleed images. Project texts flow in reading-friendly layouts, and series are grouped logically. As a result, each work remains autonomous, but the overall design holds everything together.

Smooth and Minimal User Experience

The navigation system includes just three main entries—Projects, About, and Contact—so the interface stays minimal. Transitions between pages are smooth, while loading animations are discreet.

The Markus Mai Website Design also performs well on all screen sizes, because it was built with full responsiveness in mind.
