The New Formage User Manual Design was created by CTP – Conversation Taking Place, a Berlin-based design studio. This project provides a structured and modular user manual for New Formage, focused on clarity, visual coherence, and ease of use.

UX Strategy Behind the New Formage User Manual Design

This manual was built to assist users from the very first setup, because every step counts when operating a technically sensitive product. Visual indicators, titles, and icon sets support understanding, while margin notes clarify outcomes. The layout adapts to both print and digital formats, so users can choose their preferred medium.

Each section includes well-defined instructions, quick-access tips, and scalable diagrams—designed for both beginners and experienced users.

Modular System for Product Documentation

The New Formage User Manual Design was developed around a grid-based structure, ensuring modularity and consistency. This allows future updates to be added with minimal disruption, although design integrity remains intact.

Because iconography was essential, each icon was custom-drawn to reflect product actions intuitively. Typography was also calibrated for legibility, and colour-coding improves navigation across the guide.

Visual Language and Manual Adaptability

We divided the guide into four core modules: setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. These sections help users identify what they need quickly, and because they follow a logical sequence, they can be used as standalone tools or read linearly.

Testing sessions were conducted with early users, so we could refine page structure, language, and graphic emphasis. This makes the system not only user-friendly but also efficient for updates.
