The publication design a&o Kunsthalle Leipzig was developed by CTP – Conversation Taking Place, an independent design studio based in Berlin. This project reflects our commitment to typographic care, spatial rhythm, and collaborative editorial work.

Editorial Identity for Edition 02

Edition 02 of the journal by a&o Kunsthalle Leipzig focuses on collective gestures, emotional registers, and experimental writing. Our goal was to create a visual system that could support a wide range of content without losing cohesion.

The design moves between visual density and spacious calm. Pages vary in tone—some filled with annotation and text, others more minimal. This rhythm creates an engaging flow and invites active reading.

Typography is treated as architecture. We used consistent grids with flexible margins, allowing the layout to adapt while maintaining a recognizable structure. Images appear as full-bleed moments or quiet insertions, depending on the piece.

Collaborative Process in Publication Design

We worked closely with the editorial team at a&o Kunsthalle Leipzig, testing layouts both digitally and on paper. Paper stock, binding method, and sequencing were developed alongside the design, not added later.

Each decision was made with the content in mind—what it needed to breathe, to pause, or to unfold.

This process defines how we approach every publication design: not just as graphic form, but as a spatial and narrative container.
